President George W Bush is visiting the Ground Zero site in New York when he spots 3 firefighters working very hard as a team. One is a large white American, one is a large black American and one is an Englishman.
The President speaks first to the white American and commends him for his efforts for America, and asks him where he’s from.
“I’m from Nashville, sir’, the firefighter replied. ‘Nashville, Tennessee?’ asked Bush. ‘That’s right, sir’, the man says. ‘That’s one of my favourite states’, smiles Bush.
Next, he speaks to the black American, commends him for his work, and asks him where he’s from.
‘I’m from Boston, sir’, answers the man. ‘Boston, Massachusetts?’ asks Bush. ‘That’s right, sir.’ ‘That’s one of my favourite states, too’ says Bush.
Finally, Bush speaks to the Englishman. He commends him on helping out the Americans and asks him where he’s from.
‘Bradford, sir’, says the Englishman.
‘Oh, what state’s that in, then?’ asks Bush.
‘Well, a bit like this, actually’, replies the Englishman.
